Miami Heat star grossly screws up dissing Gordon Hayward

It’s been a rough times of late for the Miami Heat — a franchise sitting at a very unfamiliar 2-6 to start the 2016-17 NBA season. But you can’t blame the new face of the Heat, Hassan Whiteside for the team’s struggles as the dude is dropping nearly 18 points per game to go along with nearly 15 boards. However, what you can blame Whiteside for is his lack of awareness…to the stat sheet at least.

Following the Heat’s double-digit loss to the Utah Jazz at home — in which Miami entered the fourth quarter down 17 points, Whiteside apparently wasn’t too impressed with Gordon Hayward — particularly the treatment the officials displayed towards him.

There was just one small problem with Whiteside’s statement. Hayward only went to the line five times all night.

Both teams went to the free throw line exactly 19 times, with Whiteside leading the way for the Heat with six attempts. The only player in the game to head to the charity stripe more than Whiteside was his counterpart, Rudy Gobert, who had eight attempts. So who the hell knows what was going through Whiteside’s mind when he made this statement.

There is a valuable lesson to be learned here, kids:

This is what happens when your mentor is Michael Beasley.
